Our Musical Director
Dorian Edwards has over 40 years of experience in teaching, playing and performing music. Choirs are a particular passion of his. In a recent magazine article he wrote: “I believe if you can speak you can sing. Before anyone says “Well you have not heard me sing yet”, let me say that I hear that almost everytime I speak to people about joining a choir, but in the last 40 years I have met only 2 or 3 people who could not carry a tune in a bucket, so there is no excuse for giving it a go. It’s the ultimate in team working and a great social activity”.
In 2002 Dorian suffered a serious brain injury and he maintains that his recovery was greatly enhanced by his music and his choir leading activities. As he says; “I would not have the level of functionality now enjoy had it not been for music and the genuine benefits it can bring. I can therefore, really endorse the benefits of choral singing, apart from the fact that it is the most fun you can have for ‘flumpance….”
Dorian chose to create the Bramley Community Choir because his son and family live in the village and he has spent a lot of time here getting to know the people and the strong sense of community that exists.
